2,500-litre municipal backup system in New Germany

Tank’D Water Solutions installed a 2,500-litre municipal backup water system in New Germany, using a 1.5 kW Variable Speed Drive (VSD) pump.

Watch Garrick explain the valve and pipework layout of this New Germany municipal backup installation.

A municipal backup installation with a VSD pump

This project combines a 2,500-litre storage tank with a 1.5 kW VSD pump featuring soft-start operation. The pump’s soft start is relevant when considering use with a compatible solar/inverter supply; suitability needs to be checked against the equipment specifications.

Why the position of valves and connections matters

The project video explains the importance of positioning non-return valves, take-offs and feedback pipework correctly so that the municipal backup system works as intended. It focuses on how these parts of the installation fit together.

Tank capacity and pump selection are only part of the installation. The layout of the pipework and valves also needs to suit the way the system is intended to operate.
